Stormwater Upgrades and Reconstruction Program 2026-27
Stormwater upgrades and reconstruction have been identified as a critical program in the Municipal Plan 2026-27, and will deliver a $4.5 million program, more than double the investment from the previous financial year.
These works form part of City of Darwin's annual Stormwater Upgrades and Reconstruction Program, to replace aged stormwater infrastructure, improve drainage performance, reduce flood risk, improve public safety, minimise pollutants and ongoing maintenance costs.
A total of 8 sites has been identified in the Stormwater Upgrades and Reconstruction program:
- Daniels Street, Ludmilla
- Davern Street, Alawa
- Emily Gardens, Alawa
- Gardens Hill Crescent, The Gardens
- Narrows Road, The Narrows
- Palm Street and Kurrajong Crescent, Nightcliff
- Sanders Street, Jingili
- Wackett Street, Jingili
Program Timeline

Start date: Monday 28 September 2026
Estimated completion: Friday 09 November 2026, weather permitting.
Parking and traffic restrictions:
There may be temporary disruptions to access some driveways. Appropriate notice will be given to those affected. On-street parking around the work zone will be unavailable for the duration of the works. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Traffic control measures will be in place for the duration of the project to ensure public safety. Please follow all traffic instructions.
Machinery will be used during construction which may result in some noise disturbances. However, we have made every effort to schedule the works in a way that minimises disruption.
