City of Darwin's Animal Education officers offer free community events for you and your pet.
Walk 'N Wag
City of Darwin run a series of community dog walks -‘Walk ‘N Wag’ – aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and helping dog owners socialise their animals.
The Walk ‘N Wag events are held every second Tuesday afternoon for approximately 30 minutes, meeting at 5.40pm and starting at 5.45pm.
Each Walk ‘N Wag event will be held at a different location, giving dog owners an opportunity to try walks they have never done before.
Walk locations in the first Walk ‘N Wag series included The Esplanade, Mindil beach, Bundilla beach, Nightcliff foreshore and Cullen Bay. Planning for the second series is already underway with The Botanic Gardens, Lee Point beach, Rapid Creek, Sunset beach, Holmes Jungle, Casuarina beach and the Mangrove Boardwalk likely to feature.
City of Darwin animal education officers will be on hand to provide dog owners with advice and support on a range of pet management issues.
If you are interested in joining any of the walks you can register using the registration webform. Dog owners participating in the walks are asked to ensure their dogs are kept on a lead and to bring ‘poop’ bags.
Animal Behaviour Workshops
City of Darwin has partnered with Pawsitive K9 Behaviour to deliver a range of workshops to help you better understand your pets and correct any behavioral matters.

Don't Bite, be Polite!
Don't bite, be polite workshops will be held at Nightcliff Community Centre from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Please Check Scheduling Below.
The workshop is designed for any dog owner who is experiencing challenging behaviours including fence rushing, leash walking and displaying anxious or aggressive behaviours.
This is a human only workshop, please leave your dogs at home.

Barking Matters
The Barking Matters workshops will be held at Nightcliff Community Centre from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Please Check Scheduling Below.
Please note: August 2026 and March 2027 Barking Matters workshops will be conducted ONLINE ONLY.
The workshop is for anyone wanting to understand barking behaviours and how to work with your pets to better understand their needs and live in a happier community with them.
This is an interactive human only workshop, please leave your dogs at home.

Noise Phobic
The Noise Phobic workshops will be held at Nightcliff Community Centre from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Please Check Scheduling Below.
Please note: November 2026 workshop will be conducted ONLINE ONLY.
The workshop is free for anyone wanting to learn about how to help their noise phobic pets and to understand their needs better so that they can live in a happier community with them. This is perfect for fears of storms, loud planes, and fireworks.
