Changes to Library access and book drop

Construction of the new Civic Centre building will soon commence. The current Civic Centre carpark and nearby entrance will be closed from Monday 28 April and remain closed while works take place. The City Library will remain open and will be accessible from the Civic Centre Customer Services’ entry near Civic Park.

Please note that the City Library returns chute will be temporarily unavailable. A new Book Drop will be installed at the Cavenagh St side of the Civic Centre soon.

We kindly ask all customers to:

return items inside the Library during opening hours, or
use one of the 24/7 return chutes located at Casuarina, Nightcliff or Karama libraries.

Justice of the Peace Services now available every Wednesday!

We are excited to announce that a Justice of the Peace (JP) will be on-site at Karama Library every Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm to assist with a wide range of legal and official services.

Whether you need documents witnessed, certified, or signed, our JP is here to offer you the convenience of professional support right when you need it.

Our Justice of the Peace can assist with:

Certifying copies of original documents
Witnessing the signing of legal documents and affidavits
Administering oaths or affirmations
Statutory declarations
Verifying identity and other notarial services

No appointment is necessary, simply visit us during our designated hours and our JP will be available to help.

When: 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, every Wednesday

We are pleased to offer Justice of the Peace (JP) services at our Karama Library, providing valuable support to the community for a variety of legal and official matters.

Our JP can assist you with:

Certifying Copies of Documents: Ensure your documents are certified as true copies for official purposes.
Witnessing Statutory Declarations and Affidavits: Have your declarations and affidavits legally witnessed.
Signing Legal Documents: Get legal documents signed and validated by an authorized JP.

This service is completely free and available to all members of the community. Whether you need assistance for personal, professional, or legal matters, our JP is here to help.
