Queer Reading Club Launch
Casuarina Library
17 Bradshaw Terrace
Casuarina NT 0800
Australia
As part of Trans Awareness Month, join us for the launch of a new trans-led Queer Reading Club at Casuarina Library.
Delivered in partnership with City of Darwin Libraries and NTAHC's Living Well Team, this welcoming event is an opportunity to connect with other LGBTQIA+ community members, share stories and help shape a new community space.
Rather than reading a set book each month, the club will explore a different theme through books, poetry, graphic novels, memoirs and other stories chosen by participants.
Our first theme is New Beginnings. Bring along a book, poem, comic, article, memoir or passage by an LGBTQIA+ author that connects with the theme, or simply come along and explore the materials provided.
At the launch, you'll help choose the club's name, future themes, reading wish list and activities, while learning about library resources and sharing ideas about what makes library spaces feel safe, inclusive and welcoming.Held after hours in the library meeting room, the event offers a discreet and comfortable space for LGBTQIA+ people to connect, explore new ideas and build friendships.
Feel free to bring a bean bag, cushion or rug for extra comfort.
Light refreshments will be provided, and we encourage attendees to bring their own mug and plate to help reduce waste.
The venue includes accessible parking, ramp access and gender-neutral toilets. Whether you're looking for community, conversation or your next favourite read, you're welcome here.
