Bundilla Beach Revitalisation
The Bundilla Beach Revitalisation project is reflective of City of Darwin’s ongoing partnership with the Northern Territory Government to transform Darwin into a more vibrant and liveable tropical city.
City of Darwin has invested $500,000 and the Northern Territory Government has committed $3 million to develop the Bundilla Beach Master Plan and deliver the first stage of works. Extensive community and stakeholder engagement was undertaken to capture a range of views about the future use of the area. The outcomes of this engagement are published at engage.darwin.nt.gov.au/bundilla-beach-masterplan.
Bundilla Beach Revitalization Stage 1 is the first step in transforming the area into a cool, green, natural space with enhanced recreational opportunities and an expanded beachfront leisure area.
The revitalised area features:
• Shared user paths and walkways
• Two dog parks
• Public toilets
• BBQ table and shelters
• Exercise nodes
• 3 X 3 basketball court
• Power bollard for Food vans
• CCTV
• Public lighting
• Softscape with greeneries
Below is the site plan for Stage 1
The redevelopment is leading the way in the circular economy, with minimal waste from the project going to landfill.
• Around 87 tonnes of asphalt from the old car park and 398 tonnes of concrete footpath and kerbing removed to make way for parklands has been crushed for reuse in other projects.
• All scrap metal will be recycled from the demolished toilet block which has been removed to make way for a new one in a better location.
• All soil will be reused onsite for landscaping.
• Minimal waste means the work site has not needed a skip bin.
Construction works for Stage 1 of the revitalisation of the Bundilla Beach area commenced on Monday 30 September 2024 and were completed in June 2025.
We thank our community for their patience and consideration while we deliver this important project for the community.
