Roof Replacement Works – Malak Childcare and Community Centre

City of Darwin is undertaking roof replacement works at the Malak Childcare and Community Centre as the existing roof sheeting has reached the end of its service life. These works will help ensure the Malak Childcare and Community Centre remains a safe, functional and reliable facility for users now and into the future.

This project is part of City of Darwin's Council Buildings Renewal Program identified in the Municipal Plan 2026-27, aimed at maintaining and improving community facilities to ensure they remain safe, functional and fit for purpose for the community.

Construction Timeline

The works are scheduled to commence on Wednesday 11 November 2026 and are expected to be completed by the end of December 2026, weather permitting.

Works will be carried out from 7.00 am to 4.30 pm, including weekends.
 

Childcare Access and Community Centre Closure

Access to the Malak Childcare will remain throughout the construction period, parents & visitors are requested to follow all pedestrian signage and directions when accessing the facility.

Malak Community Centre will be unavailable for public use during the construction period.

Construction Impacts

Construction machinery and equipment will be used during the project, which may result in some noise disturbance. The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruption and complete the works as efficiently as possible.

Traffic control and pedestrian access measures will be in place throughout the project, and some parking in the vicinity of the work site may be restricted. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
