City of Darwin provides over $350,000 funding annually to the community through sponsorship and grants.
Generally sponsorship is for ongoing annual funding for a set period of time, while grants are for one-off initiatives. Recipients of sponsorships and grants need to demonstrate a link to the City of Darwin’s vision for the city.
Sponsorship is an arrangement Council has with an organisation or individual to support new or existing economic development projects or events which contribute to the quality of life for the Darwin community in return for specified benefits.
Sponsorships must fit the goals of Council (as outlined in the City of Darwin Strategic Plan) and the benefits to City of Darwin must be clear and demonstrable.
