City of Darwin provides over $350,000 funding annually to the community through sponsorship and grants.
Generally sponsorship is for ongoing annual funding for a set period of time, while grants are for one-off initiatives. Recipients of sponsorships and grants need to demonstrate a link to the City of Darwin’s vision for the city.

Sponsorship program
Sponsorship is an arrangement Council has with an organisation or individual to support new or existing economic development projects or events which contribute to the quality of life for the Darwin community in return for specified benefits.
Sponsorships must fit the goals of Council (as outlined in the City of Darwin Strategic Plan) and the benefits to City of Darwin must be clear and demonstrable.

Community Grants Program
The Community Grants Program supports community organisations carrying out activities, programs or events which enrich the diversity of cultural, environmental, recreational, or social opportunity to Darwin residents, and enhance Darwin as a safe, liveable, and healthy city.
Each year, $100,000 is available in two rounds of funding, in allocations of between $1,000 to 10,000Round 1 opens in March and Round 2 opens in September each year.

Climate Change and Environment Research Grants
The Climate Change and Environment Research Grants provides funding between $5,000 and $50,000 for research that directly benefits the Darwin community.
The grants have been established to support research projects that will help to manage climate change and environmental impacts on our community and surrounds now and into the future.

Arts Grants (TRIAL)
City of Darwin is trialling a new Arts Grants program to foster and support the Arts community of Darwin. The grants can be used to develop new original work, professional development and training, or the cost of purchasing equipment and/or materials including hiring venues such as studios.
The Arts Grants are available to individual artists and organisations in the Darwin municipality from all disciplines and practices.
In this trial round, artists and organisations can apply for a maximum of $5,000- per submission.

Quick Response Youth Engagement Grants
City of Darwin’s Quick Response Youth Engagement Grants are a one-off initiative to fund community strengthening projects and initiatives that address emerging and critical issues facing young people. Applications should enhance Darwin as a safe, liveable and healthy city and primarily benefit at-risk and vulnerable young people aged 12-25 who reside in the northern suburbs.
Minimum request: $2,000
Maximum request: $5,000
Total grant pool: $50,000
