Changes to Library access and book drop

Construction of the new Civic Centre building will soon commence. The current Civic Centre carpark and nearby entrance will be closed from Monday 28 April and remain closed while works take place. The City Library will remain open and will be accessible from the Civic Centre Customer Services’ entry near Civic Park. 

Please note that the City Library returns chute will be temporarily unavailable. A new Book Drop will be installed at the Cavenagh St side of the Civic Centre soon. 

We kindly ask all customers to:

  • return items inside the Library during opening hours, or
  • use one of the 24/7 return chutes located at Casuarina, Nightcliff or Karama libraries.

City of Darwin has partnered with NT Shelter to bring you Homeless Link Up…a FREE event for people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

Homelessness Week (Monday 7 to Sunday 13 August) aims to raise awareness of the causes and impact of homelessness via national and local community events. This includes providing information on the importance of housing as a solution and educating communities on how they can make a difference.

The event will be a great opportunity to engage and connect!

The following services will be provided:

  • BBQ, tea, coffee and fruit
  • Free Haircuts
  • Free Eye checks and glasses
  • Free Birth Certificates
  • Centrelink and Medicare Services
  • Housing support services
  • Therapy dogs
  • Library tours
  • Food and clothing vouchers
  • Snack packs
  • Free books
  • Promotional stalls etc.

When: 9am-12noon Tuesday 8 August

Where: Casuarina Library
