Telstra NATSIAA Top End Artists (2025 - 2026)
For this exhibition, 13 artworks were selected by the curatorial team at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT). Telstra NATSIAA Top End Artists proudly featured a range of Territory artists who were winners and finalists in the 2025 Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA).
The artists offered a glimpse into the artistic, cultural and linguistic strength and richness of all First Peoples of so-called Australia. Hosted in Darwin on Larrakia Country, Telstra NATSIAA is the longest-running art awards that recognises the outstanding work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The 2025 awards marked the 42nd year of presentation by the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT), and its 34th year sponsored by Telstra. The annual Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (Telstra NATSIAA) showcases the abundant and expansive arts and cultural practices of First Peoples, celebrating the diversity of works being made by artists and communities across the continent.
The Awards acknowledge the significant ongoing contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander practitioners make to our world, and the role they play in shaping the future. The artworks illustrate the breadth of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experiences and arts practice, honour cultural identity, share important stories and histories and interrogate social and political issues.
The selected artworks showcased across the lightboxes are made by artists who are continuing and maintaining their cultures, responding to current affairs and reflecting their unerring connections to Country. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are creating the very best of contemporary art, from the Southeast to the Top End, Darwin and beyond.
We are excited to work with MAGNT to present Telstra NATSIAA Top End Artists to continue to light up our city with local art for all to enjoy.
13 lightboxes are located at four sites across Darwin and every 6 months feature new exhibitions curated by local creatives.
