Top 50 Library Junior Fiction Books
Darwin kids have read an extraordinary number of books – almost 65,000 in fact! Who are their favourite authors? Dav Pilkey, Anh Do, Jeff Kinney, Andy Griffiths and Ann Martin dominated the Top 50 Junior Fiction this year. Their prolific output of diverse series means there’s always a new title being published.
As he has done for many years, Harry Potter continues to be the most popular choice for our youth. Once again we witness a mix of old favourites – Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games and Sarah J. Maas series – along with new graphic novels – Heartstopper and Spy x Family.
Top 50 Library Adult Fiction Books
Perennial favourites such as Jane Harper, Lee Child, Michael Connelly and Ann Cleeves continue to dominate our most popular fiction. However, it has been encouraging to witness the emergence of new authors, including Bonnie Garmus, Nita Prose, and Colleen Hoover.
Top 50 Library Non Fiction Books
Atomic Habits by James Clear was easily our top performer in non fiction and remained in our Most Wanted collection for most of the year.
Our customers' pursuit of self-awareness is clearly reflected in the popularity of titles like 'Stolen focus: why you can't pay attention' and 'So you think you know what's good for you?' It is encouraging to see the continued popularity of local titles Tropical Food Gardens, and Derek Pugh’s historical narratives, and newer publications - 'The Passage of Seasons' and 'Larrimah – the disappearance of Paddy Moriarty in a feuding town'."
