Our Skate Park at Jingili Water Gardens is well used by Darwin’s skate communities. To grow use of the facility Council’s LAUNCH program offers a range of events throughout the year.
The activities and events in the LAUNCH skate calendar aim to:
- increase the diversity of skate park users
- connect Darwin’s skate communities
- support activation and positive use of public space
- provide opportunities to be healthy and active
Our activities welcome all skatepark disciplines - skateboarders, scooter riders, roller and inline skaters and BMX riders. Unless otherwise stated, the age range for activities is 12-25. Parental supervision is always recommend for under 12s.
Street Heat
Our annual skate/scooter/rollerskate/BMX competition has multiple divisions to accommodate riders with varying skills and experience. Street Heat is free and recommended for ages 12+,
Themed Skate Jams
We keep things fresh by dropping some special themed events into the mix. Some past events include:
• International Women’s Day Skate (March)
• Go Skate Day (June)
• Halloween (October)
• Sweatmass (December)
