About the Program
LAUNCH Night Series is a late-night, social inclusion activity program for young people aged 12-17. LAUNCH Night Series is held on Saturday nights in four week blocks, four times a year.
The program is held on Saturday nights in four-week blocks, four times a year. In addition to competitive sports, each Saturday night players participate in a cooking workshop to share a meal with their teammates, are provided uniforms and transport home (within the Darwin municipality) if required.
The program is supported by community volunteers and is currently delivered by Pathfinders NT and IBC Community Services.
LAUNCH Night Series aims to:
- Provide young people with a safe, healthy and positive environment on Saturday nights when they may be vulnerable to harmful and anti-social behaviour
- Support young people to connect with and participate in positive activities in their local community
- Provide healthy role models and build positive self-regard in young people
- Divert young people in areas of need from the risks associated with unhealthy behaviours

Originally known as Midnight Basketball, City of Darwin has been providing this FREE late night sports program since 2015. LAUNCH Night Series 2024 has been made possible with matched funding via the Northern Territory Government’s Targeted Darwin Youth Activities Grant program.
