Councillor Rickard first moved to Darwin in his early thirties and is originally from Sydney.
His professional experience includes working in hospitality, arts, community development, cultural preservation, media production, communications, and 8+ years as an employee in the City of Darwin Libraries.
During his time as a new Councillor, he would like to make a meaningfully contribution to the community, help develop Darwin to be a sustainable city and to see improved, respectful collaborations led by First Nations people. He would also like to improve Council's engagement with young people for the benefit of everyone, align Council's investment strategy with its climate emergency strategy and divest from fossil fuel investments, and to collaboratively develop a long term and sustainable vision for the future of Darwin. A Darwin that makes the most of its unique strengths, assets, climate, geography and above all, people. He wants to be part of creating a city that is an inspiration and leader.
In his personal time, he likes producing music, writing, acting and devouring cinema. He would like to one day retire with a little patch of bush and veggies.
