City of Darwin is proud to announce the completion of another important facility that will improve access to sporting in the Northern Territory.
Last week, Football Northern Territory (FNT) opened the new Bagot Oval change room marking another milestone in the delivery of the Bagot Park Master Plan 2022.
The new facility offers a female-friendly design with four unisex cubicles, plus dedicated parent, medical, and referee amenities. The $1.3 million project was funded jointly by the Australian Government’s Community Development Grant Program, City of Darwin, and Football Northern Territory.
Lord Mayor of Darwin Peter Styles said the new change rooms are a milestone for inclusive sport in the city.
“This project represents a significant step forward in supporting both adult and young women participating in football in the Northern Territory,” he said.
“These new change rooms will help provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment to inspire more people in our community to get involved in sport. City of Darwin is proud to support and deliver facilities that reflect our commitment to healthy living, gender equality, and creating participation opportunities for all,” he added.
The completion of the new change rooms is one of the significant upgrades identified in the Bagot Park Master Plan 2022. City of Darwin has already delivered other elements of the Master Plan, including upgrades to the velodrome, improved parking facilities, a pathway network with seating and water bubblers, trees and shading.
City of Darwin continues to deliver on a vision of a healthier, more active, and more inclusive community ensuring that residents, clubs and visitors alike have quality infrastructure to support sport at all levels.
