Join us for a fascinating seminar exploring how digital sensing technologies are reshaping our understanding of living environments. 🏞️

Drawing on collaborative research with the Commonwealth Environmental Water Office's Flow-MER program, Professor Mitchell Whitelaw will present findings from a multimodal sensing project conducted at a wetland in the western reaches of the Murrumbidgee River. Using audio recorders, time-lapse photography and motion-triggered cameras, the project captured four months of ecological activity and informed the creation of Mosaic: Life on the Western Lakes.

The seminar explores not only how environmental data is collected, but also the social, cultural and ethical questions that emerge from sensing technologies. How do sensors shape what we see, value and understand about living places? And how can fragmented digital records help us engage with complex ecological systems?
