Back by popular demand, we are once again opening the doors of the Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility to the public for a special behind-the-scenes tour! As the Northern Territory’s largest waste management facility, Shoal Bay plays a critical role in ensuring that Darwin’s waste is handled safely, sustainably, and efficiently. The tour offers a unique opportunity to learn about the journey our household and commercial waste takes, and how individuals can make a real difference through simple actions like composting and recycling.
Visitors will learn why Shoal Bay is an industry-leader and get an exclusive look at the newly completed landfill upgrade, a major development that supports the long-term sustainability of the facility.
As part of the experience, participants can also explore the Reviva Reuse Shop, a treasure trove of pre-loved items looking for a new home. Whether you’re interested in environmental sustainability or just curious about what happens to your waste after it leaves the kerb, this eye-opening tour is not to be missed!
