Darwin Christmas Pageant — register your float!

City of Darwin is bringing back the much-loved Darwin Christmas Pageant, proudly sponsored by Northern Territory Government, on Saturday 15 November 2025. Community groups, schools, organisations and businesses are invited to register your float and join the procession through the heart of Darwin.

Pageant route

The Pageant begins on The Esplanade (at the corner of Knuckey Street and the Esplanade) moves along Knuckey Street, onto Cavanagh Street, to Bennett Street before turning left onto Smith Street to conclude at Civic Park. (Exact assembly point, marshalling times and final route map will be provided to registered entrants.)

After you submit, the Pageant Participation Coordinator will confirm your registration and provide further details to assist in your pageant day prep!
All floats must comply with event safety and accessibility standards. The Pageant Participation Coordinator will provide detailed safety and insurance requirements to registrants. Registrations close on 31 October 2025.

Terms and Conditions for Pageant participation must be read and acknowledged within your application form.

Funding

Funding of up to $500 per eligible organisation* is available to assist with float construction and presentation (subject to eligibility). To apply for funding, please complete the application form via the SmartyGrants websiteIf you have any questions relating to funding, please contact sponsorship@darwin.nt.gov.au.

Important notes & safety 

  • All floats must comply with event safety and accessibility standards. The Events team will provide detailed safety and insurance requirements to registrants. 
  • Any floats including animals, musical amplification or fire effects must declare these on the form and meet additional conditions. 
  • Spaces are limited — we recommend registering early to secure your place in the Pageant.
