Footpath Upgrade Works – Strele Crescent, Wanguri
City of Darwin will be undertaking footpath upgrade works on Strele Crescent, Wanguri. Please refer to the map below, indicating the work area in red.
This project is part of Council’s annual footpath program aimed at improving connectivity and enhancing accessibility for all users, including those with wheelchairs, trolleys, prams, and bicycles.
The works are expected to commence on Monday, 25 May 2026 and will take approximately six weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Before Construction:
Please notify Council of any irrigation systems, pipes, or cables beneath the footpath area or verge that could be affected by the construction works as soon as possible.
During Construction:
A Telstra contractor will be working alongside Council's contractor to replace existing Telstra Pits located within the following alignment.
For the safety of the public and to facilitate these works, one to two trees may require removal. For any trees that require removal, Council will replace with two new trees in approved locations.
There are some driveways within the vicinity of the works that may require replacement. Appropriate notice and communication to those affected will be given for these disruptions.
Traffic control measures will be in place for the duration of the project to ensure public safety. Please follow all traffic instructions where necessary. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Machinery will be used during construction which may result in some noise disturbances. However, we have made every effort to schedule the works in a way that minimises disruption.
Post Construction:
Council requests that irrigation systems on the verge be tested for damage once the construction is completed. Repairs to damaged systems caused by the construction will be undertaken, subject to notification received within 30 days from the completion date of the works.
We thank you in advance for your patience and consideration.
