Join Library & Archives NT and Taiwanese Bookshelves for a special screening of the acclaimed documentary 'I Dream of the Ocean' (2025), followed by an inspiring in-conversation event with Tao cultural documentarian Si Rapongan.
The documentary offers an intimate portrait of award-winning Indigenous writer Syaman Rapongan and his son, Si Rapongan, capturing their four-year journey of building a traditional Tao plank boat—a powerful expression of cultural knowledge, family legacy and the enduring relationship between the Tao people and the sea.
Following the screening, Si Rapongan will discuss the rich oceanic heritage of Lanyu (Orchid Island), his father's celebrated literary works, and the maritime philosophy that shapes Tao identity and storytelling.
