About the presenter
Andrew Taylor is Professor of Demography at the Northern Institute, Charles Darwin University. His research focuses on population dynamics in regional and remote Australia, with particular emphasis on the Northern Territory. Prior to joining academia, he spent ten years with the Australian Bureau of Statistics, contributing to both the 1991 and 1996 Australian Censuses. Professor Taylor's work combines large-scale quantitative data analysis with applied policy research to inform decision-making and support positive economic and community outcomes. Census data forms a cornerstone of his research, enabling detailed insights into demographic change, migration, population distribution, and regional development. He is also a strong advocate for the Australian Census and its critical role in providing the evidence base needed for effective public policy, planning, and community development.
