Changes to Library access and book drop

Construction of the new Civic Centre building will soon commence. The current Civic Centre carpark and nearby entrance will be closed from Monday 28 April and remain closed while works take place. The City Library will remain open and will be accessible from the Civic Centre Customer Services’ entry near Civic Park. 

Please note that the City Library returns chute will be temporarily unavailable. A new Book Drop will be installed at the Cavenagh St side of the Civic Centre soon. 

We kindly ask all customers to:

  • return items inside the Library during opening hours, or
  • use one of the 24/7 return chutes located at Casuarina, Nightcliff or Karama libraries.

Hosted by the Geek Culture Collective, a not-for-profit nerdy organisation, TROPiCON is the Territory’s flagship event dedicated to the geek sector. 

This year's event is bigger than ever, expanding beyond Darwin Entertainment Centre and into the DoubleTree by Hilton. In 2023, there is more to geek out to!

In a major highlight, the international award-winning cosplay master, K Cosplay, will be joining the event! K Cosplay, who was crowned the 2019 World Cosplay Summit Grand Champion, has made over 400 costumes and has cosplayed for over 23 years. K brings decades of experience, learnings, stories and inspiration from being a part of the global cosplay community to Darwin and TROPiCON eventgoers.

Whether you’re a seasoned cosplayer or making your debut, you will also get your own chance to showcase your skills, creativity, and fandom for fantastic prizes. The Artists Alley returns with unique memorabilia, collectibles, art, and more from talented vendors and artists. Trade cards with enthusiasts, delve into digital art, admire rare collectibles, and engage in intricate tabletop board games.

Witness or participate in competitive gaming at its best with a dedicated Esports area. Dive deep, challenge rivals, and celebrate victories. Or, challenge yourself with a diverse range of Video and Free-to-Play games, both competitive and casual. Love VR? Dive into immersive worlds and narratives with top-of-the-line Virtual Reality booths.
