Councillor Mirella Fejo is a proud Larrakia and Warramunga woman, born and raised in Darwin. She and her family have resided in the Waters Ward for over 20 years. Known for her honesty and approachability, she has a deep understanding of the community's needs.
Councillor Fejo’s professional experience includes over 25 years working in government in service delivery. She is experienced in working with all levels of government and the community - from community elders to government agencies and community groups.
As a survivor of Cyclone Tracy, she is passionate about giving back to those who support communities in times of crisis. She was able to contribute to and support those affected by the QLD Floods in 2011 and 2012 as part of the Emergency Response travelling to Ipswich, Lockyer Valley and St George. Over the years she has supported other services by providing meals for people experiencing homelessness and families in need.
Councillor Fejo has served on the board of Larrakia Nation and was a member of the NT Working Women’s Board in the early 2000s, before serving as Chair from 2005 to 2006. She has an Associate Diploma in Community Development and a Certificate in Executive Management and Development from the NSW Business School.
Councillor Fejo is focused on improving services for the elderly and people with disabilities, enhancing accessibility, and developing parks to provide more activities for young people. She looks forward to working alongside her fellow councillors, council staff, and the Lord Mayor to make the community an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
