Kerbside recycling collection delays – Lyons & Leanyer

City of Darwin advises that kerbside recycling collection services in Lyons and Leanyer may be temporarily delayed on Thursday 1 May and Friday 2 May 2025.

Residents are requested to leave their yellow-lid recycling bins on the verge. Collection crews will be working after hours and any streets not serviced will be prioritised for collection on Friday morning.

To assist, please ensure bins remain out until close of business Friday.

We appreciate your understanding as we work to complete all scheduled collections.

Changes to Library access and book drop

Construction of the new Civic Centre building will soon commence. The current Civic Centre carpark and nearby entrance will be closed from Monday 28 April and remain closed while works take place. The City Library will remain open and will be accessible from the Civic Centre Customer Services’ entry near Civic Park.

Please note that the City Library returns chute will be temporarily unavailable. A new Book Drop will be installed at the Cavenagh St side of the Civic Centre soon.

We kindly ask all customers to:

  • return items inside the Library during opening hours, or
  • use one of the 24/7 return chutes located at Casuarina, Nightcliff or Karama libraries.

For more information about the project, please go here.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

City of Darwin is hosting FREE Accessibility Seminars for local business owners on Tuesday 19 March and Thursday 21 March 2024 at Harry's Place, 1 Willeroo St, Tiwi .

Registrations start from 7.30am with free breakfast provided, the seminars will be 8am to 10am.

It’s simple, better access means better business. 1 in 5 Australians have a disability. We already know that increasing accessibility is the right thing to do, but here's a compelling fact: it's also a brilliant business strategy. This rapidly expanding market is worth over $13.5 billion and is set to keep growing.

It’s proven that if you provide an accessible and inclusive service, you will see a return on investment through increased market share, increased cash flow and a reputation that precedes you. Yet most organisations ignore their biggest value driver – serving customers with access needs.

Led by Access consultant Sarah O’Mara (Flare Access) attendees will learn practical tips and strategies to improve accessibility, enhance the customer journey and increase revenue.

•    Tuesday 19 March Introducing Accessibility in Business: Where to Start and How to Grow

•    Thursday 21 March Enhancing Physical Accessibility: Solutions for Every Budget

 Attendees can register below.

Registrations are open now and are limited. Don't miss out on this opportunity to make a positive impact while boosting your bottom line. These are the first two seminars in a proposed four series seminar supported by City of Darwin.
