Changes to Library access and book drop

Construction of the new Civic Centre building will soon commence. The current Civic Centre carpark and nearby entrance will be closed from Monday 28 April and remain closed while works take place. The City Library will remain open and will be accessible from the Civic Centre Customer Services’ entry near Civic Park.

Please note that the City Library returns chute will be temporarily unavailable. A new Book Drop will be installed at the Cavenagh St side of the Civic Centre soon.

We kindly ask all customers to:

  • return items inside the Library during opening hours, or
  • use one of the 24/7 return chutes located at Casuarina, Nightcliff or Karama libraries.

For more information about the project, please go here.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

City of Darwin invites Expressions of Interest from individuals wishing to nominate for a community position on our Sister City Advisory Committee for the 2024 – 2026 membership period.

City of Darwin has 7 Sister Cities, and this is an excellent opportunity to be a part of something great, and use your experience, knowledge and networks to support Council in building strong connections with cities around the world.

The committee is a driving force behind key City of Darwin international relations initiatives, such as the 2022 Darwin International Virtual Trade Show and 2023 Darwin International Dragon Boat Festival, both recently receiving awards from Sister Cities Australia and the Chamber of Commerce.

Your involvement could help Darwin create opportunities for cultural exchange, community and economic development, and contribute to making Darwin a creative, connected and inclusive city.

Applications close 15 May 2024
