The successful recipients for the first round of City of Darwin’s $100,000 Community Grants program were awarded on Friday, 16 July.
A total of $50,000 has been allocated to 11 deserving projects across the municipality.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis congratulated the successful grant recipients.
“We receive many applications for grant support, and it is a difficult job to choose from the many deserving applications.
“Once again, Council is supporting fantastic local initiatives in the areas of arts, sports, events and community projects including History Mystery Tours, Women’s Football Programs, Be-Inclusive Games Program and a regional ballet education program.
“With our support, these organisations are able to deliver positive community benefits to the people of Darwin,” said the Lord Mayor.
The 11 successful recipients are Nightcliff Community Early Learning Centre; Fannie Bay History and Heritage Society; Chinese Community of Norther Australia Inc; MJD Foundation Ltd; Queensland Ballet; Tennis NT; 1st Darwin Sea Scout Group; Football Northern Territory; Clubhouse Territory Inc; NT Writers’ Centre Inc and Environment Centre NT.
The second round of Community Grants totalling $50,000 will open in September 2021 for projects being undertaken between 1 January 2022 and 30 June 2022.
