Join us for the inaugural Jingili Water Festival and Families Week event on 17 May 2025! Join the Chan Ward Elected Members for City of Darwin's inaugural Jingili Water Festival and Families Week event, a fun and free community event taking place at the Jingili Water Gardens (91 Freshwater Rd Jingili) on Saturday 17 May 2025.
The festival falls during Families Week (12 – 18 May 2025) and celebrates the important role families play in our communities. Our Fun Bus and Fun in the Parks teams have so much fun planned to celebrate!
Bring your swimmers to enjoy one of our water-based activities!

- Monster Foam Cannon
- Super soaker zone
- Big Splash Water Bucket Tipping and adults cold plunge bath challenge with prizes – not just for the kids!
The main stage will also have mini presentations from Larrakia Nation, Royal Life Saving NT, Power and Water and the City of Darwin’s Libraries and Environment and Waste teams and a DJ!
The festival will also feature:
- Petting Zoo
- Face painting
- Barra themed scavenger hunt with giveaways from the City of Darwin booth!
- Special guests Boof the Barra and the PFES Platypus!
- Free BBQ for all attendees!
- Free parking via Freshwater Rd (Rapid Creek entrance closed)
- All-abilities playground and change facility
- Drinking fountains available
Youth and Adults:
- Book your interactive sessions including guided water themed canvas painting (bookings essential via here)
- Learn-to-skate workshops at the skate park at 9:45am and 11am
- Guided walking tours through Jingili Community Gardens and activity with the community members
