We’re calling for members of the community to express their interest in providing volunteering services in support of the Darwin International Dragon Boat Festival 2023, held 4 - 5 June 2023.
 
The Darwin International Dragon Boat Festival is a two-day event featuring sport, business and cultural exchange activities. These activities are designed to support, enhance and promote connections between Darwin and its Sister and Friendship Cities, and showcase Darwin businesses and our diverse community.

What’s involved
Volunteers will assist in delivering the Darwin International Dragon Boat Festival without payment. Volunteers will be supervised and assigned tasks by the City of Darwin events team. Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Setting up and packing down the event;
• Providing customer information and liaison services;
• Supporting the event's producer with logistical and administrative support;
• Distributing marketing materials such as flyers or brochures to attendees at an event;
• Providing support services to stakeholders if required;
• Generic hospitality service;
• Recording the attendance at events by scanning tickets or checking names against a list of registered guests;
• Other general tasks to assist with the delivery of the event.

Volunteers will:

• Act with honesty and integrity at all times while representing the City of Darwin;
• Support and act in accordance with the City of Darwin's purposes, goals and values, and eventprotocols;
• Work professionally, cooperatively, and respectfully with other team members to accomplish jointtasks and build positive team relationships;
• Only perform duties that the Volunteer is suitably qualified, capable, and authorised to perform;
• Be flexible and adaptable to working in various event locations and tasks throughout the event;
• Not receive any payment for the volunteer services provided.Work professionally, cooperatively, and respectfully with other team members to accomplish joint tasks and build positive working relationships.

City of Darwin provides the below for all volunteers:

• Volunteer Safety Induction and duties briefing from 4 pm Wednesday 24 May 2023;
• Event rehearsal to be conducted prior to the event;
• Appropriate insurance and supervision.

City of Darwin will assess the applications based on the following key principles:

• Suitable skillsets and experience for the task requirements;
• Capacity and availability.
