If you have had a loss of income due to the COVID-19 crisis and do not believe you can meet your upcoming rates payments, you can apply for assistance under City of Darwin’s Financial Hardship Support Policy. Assistance may include negotiated payment terms and waiver of interest charges. Additionally, a 3-month waiver of rates may be applicable. To be eligible to apply you must supply evidence of loss of income which occurred after 18 March 2020. A separate application form must be lodged for each property you are requesting assistance for.

Support Evidence

Council requires evidence of the extent of your loss of income due to the COVID-19 crisis. Accordingly, you will need to provide details of the income you were receiving immediately prior to 18 March 2020 in addition to evidence of your income situation after 18 March 2020.
Applicants also need to disclose any income support from the Commonwealth and/or Northern Territory Governments, proof they have secured all available Commonwealth and Northern Territory Government assistance, and any proceeds from insurance, including tenant default insurance.
